About the certification
Through strategic collaboration with internationally respected manufacturers and trade associations, Control Union helped develop the concept of certifying products made from organically grown latex. Over time, this initiative evolved and was introduced to the global market as the Global Organic Latex Standard (GOLS).
Developed with support from manufacturers and key stakeholders in the latex industry, the Global Organic Latex Standard (GOLS) has become a globally recognized benchmark for products made from organically grown natural rubber latex. Originally created by Control Union, GOLS offers significant value to companies committed to producing more sustainable products.
Gols certified products
The standard applies to a wide range of products, including, but not limited to, mattresses, bedding items, gloves, bands, shoe soles, rubber toys, condoms, and any other products made from organically grown natural rubber latex. These products may not only contain certified natural rubber latex but also other approved materials and accessories. To label a final product as GOLS-certified, it is essential that all raw materials (excluding the approved accessories/materials) meet the organic origin requirements

Criteria
The standard addresses criteria for natural rubber latex and any other agriculture ingredients from certified organic plantations (USDA NOP or EU) that is processed as GOLS certified manufacturing units. The GOLS standard features permissible limits for harmful substances, emission test requirements and polymer and filler percentages.
By using transaction certificates at every sale of a product in the supply chain, traceability from the plantation to the final retailer is ensured.
