About the scheme
The INS Scheme is a sustainable certification, established by the Italian Government, certifies the sustainability of biofuels and bioliquids used in Italy. Its goal is to promote the production and use of renewable fuels while minimizing environmental and social impacts.
Participants in the INS Scheme must demonstrate that their products meet the following standards:

The Italian Government’s decision on November 14, 2019, established the national certification system for biofuels and bioliquids.

UNI/TS 11429 standards related to qualification guidelines for economic actors (organizations) involved in the biofuel and bioliquid production chain for traceability and mass balance purposes.

For biogas production, the UNI/TS 11567 standards provide qualification guidelines for economic actors (organizations) involved in the biogas production chain. These guidelines ensure traceability and support mass balance purposes.
