SBP – Sustainable Biomass Program

The Sustainable Biomass Program (SBP) was founded by major European utilities that use biomass in power plants to certify sustainable wood biomass for energy use. Certification starts at the biomass producer, making forest certification no longer the only way to proof sustainability compliance. Control Union Certifications BV is accredited by ANAB for this scheme.

    Tentang Program

    Tujuan SBP adalah untuk mematuhi persyaratan hukum, regulasi, dan keberlanjutan di Uni Eropa. Kerangka kerja SBP menawarkan pendekatan yang lebih holistik dalam persyaratannya dan berfokus pada implementasi perkembangan terkini dalam masyarakat. Perhatian khusus diberikan pada kepatuhan sosial, perubahan penggunaan lahan, dan keanekaragaman hayati.

    Ruang Lingkup

    SBP mencakup seluruh rantai pasokan dari hutan hingga konsumen. Kerangka kerja ini merupakan skema sertifikasi yang berpusat pada pabrik pengolahan, yang berbeda dari skema sertifikasi yang berpusat pada hutan. Namun, jika area sumber pasokan sudah bersertifikat, mendapatkan persetujuan SBP untuk produk menjadi relatif mudah.

    Standard name: Verification of SBP-Compliant Feedstock Applicable for: All biomass producers, also with 100% certified supply base

    Standard name: Certification Systems requirements for certification bodies Applicable for: Certification bodies (Control Union)

    SBP Standard 4

    Standard name: Chain of Custody Applicable for: All legal owners of biomass in the supply chain

    SBP Standard 5

    Standard name: Collection and Communication of Data Applicable for: All legal owners of biomass in the supply chain

    SBP Standard 6

    Standard name: Energy and Carbon Balance Calculation Applicable for: End-users of biomass to produce energy / heat
